Dr. Michael Marquardt received the Cutting Edge Award from the Academy of HRD for the paper "Integrating Action Learning and Experiential Learning: Theories for HRD" that was presented at the 2013 Conference.
Dr. Susan Swayze and Dr. Rick Jakeman were named one of ten recipients of an Innovation in Diversity and Inclusion grant from GW’s Office of the Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion. The grant is in support of their project, “Graduate Education Student Perceptions Regarding Diversity and Inclusion in the Classroom Environment.” Their qualitative study will explore student definitions of diversity and inclusion, student perceptions of diversity and inclusion in classroom material, and student participation in classroom discussion where topics of diversity and inclusion may occur. A product of the study will be a document detailing strategies for enhancing diversity and inclusion in the classroom.
Donna Richardson won 2nd place honors for her dissertation research at the 18th Annual GW Research Days. Richardson presented “Software Engineer Perceptions of Learning Facilitated by Four Asynchronous Web 2.0 Interaction Technologies in a Software Development Environment.” Dr. Diana Burley served as co-author and faculty advisor of the exploratory quantitative study. Provost Steve Lerman and Vice President Leo Chalupa presented the award.

RECOGNITION
The 2012 Monica Lee Research Award was given to Dr. Scully‐Russ at the 2013 AHRD annual conference. The award recognizes the best article in each annual volume of the Human Resource Development International journal. Dr. Scully‐Russ received the award for the best article in volume 15, “HRD and Sustainability: Beyond Sustainable Organizations.”
